Wednesday, June 6, 2012 the new Melanie Robertson-King "brand" was unveiled to the world. In this competitive age we live in, we need something to make us stand out.
I’ve contemplated this step for a long time and within the last twelve months began to use the tag line in my e-mail signature. "Where fact and fiction meet..." has been floating around in my head since I had a comment in my guestbook that said a fine blend of fact and fiction. I took that comment to heart and that’s how my tagline came to be. It followed along logically since my early publishing was all non-fiction articles. So the jump to writing fiction, starting with short stories and then making the foray into novel length fiction, it seemed a natural transition.
So the tagline was decided. Now I needed an updated banner on my page to showcase it. In the beginning the banner showing my website in Kelt font flanked by the Robertson crests was all right, it was somewhat redundant since if you were viewing my website, you were already at the link. Still, I liked the Kelt font and created an icon with a white "m" in a blue circle the same colour as my text. I knew I had a larger version of it so retrieved it from its hiding place on one of my hard drives and it became part of my banner. Intead of using my weblink in the header, I decided to go with my name on one line and "author" centered under it and lastly my tagline. I’ve always had a photo of me in the upper left so kept it. I mean I’m going to be meeting with my readers at some point in my future.
