And even more written… other than my earlier post

I’ve managed another 234 words in my manuscript. Not bad after spending the entire day at work in front of a computer. This is about the time I tend to crash and burn on weeknights so the more I get written by this time, the better.

I’ve got a few ideas percolating for upcoming scenes but at the same time, I’m going to end up deleting a great chunk. What can I say other than it’s just the direction this revision is taking me in. When I get to that point, I’ll try to document the word count in the new material as well as the same in what I end up chopping. All those lovely words… hitting the cutting room floor.

But in this revision of my novel, my heroine is a far more likeable person… even if she does have the occasional “all about me” moment.

The Writers’ Union of Canada – Postcard Contest

I’ve taken the plunge before and entered this contest. Trust me, coming up with a story that has a beginning, middle and end in only 250 words is not easy.

This year I’ve got three of my short pieces (all of which are exactly 250 words in length) at the top of the heap of possible entries. I’m leaning towards putting in all three but I might narrow it down to one.

Whatever I decide to do, I’ve got to get a move on. The deadline for it is February 14, 2011. Egads! That’s next Monday!

Here’s the link to the Writers’ Union of Canada website.

And no I’m not telling what I’m entering… at least not until after the winners are announced and maybe not then even.

Another Dump

We got another dumping of snow last night. Not sure what time it started but had stopped when I was up with the dog around 3:00 this morning. Poor wee beggar’s ears are bothering him again. So get up with him, let him outside, medicate his ears and him when he came back in. He finally settled about 45 minutes later once the drugs kicked in.

Back to the snow. About six inches of the white stuff during this latest dump. Here are a couple of photos I took this morning with my BlackBerry. And lik the last time, I was out taking them in my PJs, slippers and sweater.

A word-count neutral night

Well I wrote for a bit, but deleted a lot too so am calling tonight a word-count neutral night. With the changes, I could even end up in a deficit situation. Oh well, will remedy that over the weekend,

In the meantime my computer needs charging so will let it rest and rejuvenate for tomorrow.

In for the Night

Well after making it home safe and sound, I’m cocooned in my favourite long sweater, slippers (hey wait…, I was taking pictures outdoors this morning in the same gear) with a Manhattan by my side.

Two transports (or lorries if you prefer) were jacknifed in the median on the way home. One of them was there this morning on the way to work andthe other was right there right behind him on the way home.

Brrr…

Wild Weather…

When you see the photos in this blog post, you’ll understand my comment in Groundhog Day where I said no self-respecting groundhog would venture out of his hole.

Groundhog Day

Hopefully, not the movie. Don’t need this day repeating itself over and over and over again. We’re in the midst of a major blizzard here today. No self-respecting groundhog would want to stick his head out of his hole this morning. And if he/she did, all that would be seen would be white… snow falling… snow blowing… just snow.
