However, the weather was much better than predicted. We drove through a few showers on the way but nothing extreme. Even when we made our first trek from our hotel to the falls, it was dry&#8230;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1397\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1397\" style=\"width: 192px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-above-the-falls.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1397  \" src=\"http:\/\/www.melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-above-the-falls-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-above-the-falls-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-above-the-falls.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 192px) 100vw, 192px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1397\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Here we are above the falls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">until we got close enough to Horseshoe Falls when the mist drifted over the sidewalks and dampened us. As you can see from our picture we&#8217;re a bit frizzy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">While in the portals behind the falls, a younger gentleman offered to take our picture. By that time I had discovered my wee Kodak camera had a backlight feature.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1399\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1399\" style=\"width: 168px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-behind-the-falls.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1399  \" src=\"http:\/\/www.melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-behind-the-falls-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-behind-the-falls-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/melanierobertson-king.com\/wp02\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/mel-and-mj-behind-the-falls.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1399\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">In one of the portals behind the falls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In return, I took his picture with his fancy digital SLR. It was very similar to my new one but I&#8217;m just barely getting to it so I couldn&#8217;t offer much help. It took a few tries but he found the backlight feature on his and I finally was able to get a good picture of him. He thanked me for being so patient and we parted company. In the meantime, my digital SLR was tucked safely under my lovely, yellow rain cape. We didn&#8217;t know a band was playing by the water and that there were to be fireworks at 10:00.
