Mindless Vandalism

This morning my husband discovered that the passenger side wing mirror on our son’s car had been broken sometime overnight. The car was parked in the same place it always is, mine was in the driveway and my husband’s on the street on the other side. The “Silver Streak” isn’t looking too pretty. The mirror has been taken off – couldn’t leave it dangling because it would cause further damage to the door. We all figure, but can’t prove it, it was the drunken yobs coming home from a night at the bars downtown. And having a police presence in the downtown core? That’s a joke.

Hopefully, the son be able to get a new mirror tomorrow that won’t cost him a small fortune. With the amount of his insurance deductible, it isn’t worth putting a claim through.

  1. And to add insult to injury, he planned on going away for the rest of the weekend and waited until well after 8:00 to leave so he could go to the dealership and order a new mirror only to find they weren’t open today. Me thinks there’s a few more Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrs being uttered throughout the day.

  2. Vandalism is such a sad reflection on life – if that is the only way some people can express themselves, then they have pretty empty lives. They have no idea how much upset, inconvenience and cost something like this causes – the truth is they simply don’t care. So I was sorry to read this Melanie and I hope some good luck comes to your son from the ‘greater universe’ to balance this out (two-fold)!

  3. Thanks Linn. I believe he was finding out today how much it was going to cost to replace the mirror and have it installed… that is, unless he’s going to put it back on himself along with an extra pair of hands from his Dad.
