Guy Fawkes Night

Will you be going to any Guy Fawkes celebrations tonight? Huge bonfires, fireworks or the like? Or will you spend it tucked up inside your cozy houses? No matter your choosing, this commemmoration dates back to 1605 when Guy Fawkes was arrested while guarding explosives planted under the House of Lords. It was originally a celebration because the King had survived the attempt on his life.

Whatever your night will bring, have a good one!

  1. Hi Melanie! No, I’m not going anywhere this evening. The village will be having a display but being so far out in the countryside, I doubt we will see any fireworks. My husband’s birthday is next week though, so we might brighten up the night sky then instead!

Have a good Guy Fawkes night yourself!

  2. I usedto celebrate Guy Fawkes night when I lived in Yorkshire. Lots of fun round a bonfire. I was not fond of plot toffee, so it didn’t bother me the night the dog licked it all and we were left with baked potatoes charred in the embers. Sometimes it took some digging to find the blackened potatoes with the still raw inside. I recall they were delicious!
