Another recording for TV…

It’s been a busy day for me here today at Celtic Connexions. First of all, I’m taking part in Janice Horton’s Spellbindingly Fun Blog Party, celebrating the launch of her new novella How Do You Voodoo? And secondly, because it had been arranged some time ago that I would do a spot for our cable company’s program Reader’s Corner.

The show’s host, Doreen Barnes, and I chatted about my novel, A Shadow in the Past. What made me decide I would write a book? Why I set it where I did? We talked about my characters, Sarah & Robert, the research involved, and what my favourite scene is.

I could give you all the answers now in my blog post, but then you wouldn’t want to watch the program when it comes on next month.

At the end of our interview, I was asked to read a very short (about 30 seconds) passage from my book. So I picked one that I hope will entice you into purchasing your very own copy.

For those of you who are local to Brockville and have cable you’ll be able to watch it on local channel 10. I’ll post the date and air time when I get it, but with so many of my followers being scattered to the four corners of the world, the episode should be shown on their website. TV Cogeco Readers Corner. Once the show goes online, I’ll post the complete link.

Not quite the ear-to-ear grin that I had in Kansas but still looking pretty pleased with myself.

  1. How very exciting to be on the TV – and you look every inch a star author Melanie. That’s such a great author photo – with your book and your shelves of books behind you. Fabulous!

    Love, Janice xx

  2. Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for the lovely bag I won in your launch competition and which I received today in the post all the way from Canada to Scotland!

I will use it every day as my ‘shopper’ and everyone will see the photo of your book cover on the front of it. I’ll keep you posted on how many locals I talk to about your book. Thanks Melanie – I’m so delighted!

    Love, Janice xx

  3. Thanks for your kind words, Janice. I wish they were my bookshelves behind me. The interview was done in the library at the same venue where I held my Brockville launch last month – The Wedgewood Retirement Resort.

Gorgeous place. I could retire there… but would have to make loads in royalties to be able to afford it. Come on “best seller spell” do you your stuff!

  4. So happy to hear your interview went well.. but we know Doreen is a great hostess, and you know your stuff. I’m sure the interview is perfect and I look forward to the online link. No Cogeco out here. Great picture too, you look relaxed and happy, as you should be. Getting published is no small feat. 🙂

  5. Thanks for dropping by, Dorothy! You’re right, Doreen is a smashing hostess. We did a similar interview for Brock News the day of my local launch. I was relaxed and happy… by then the interview was over.

  6. AWESOME! Huge congratulations. So sad I couldn’t see it but I bet you were amazing. I also bet you got a huge buzz out of it. Well done! You rock!

  7. Me too, Sheryl! Will be watching for it since it should air on local cable next month and will pass the online link along as soon as it becomes available.

Also keeping an eye on Brock News since they interviewed me the day of my local launch and filmed my presentation. They’re currently showing episodes online but they’re from back in the spring.

  8. Great !! Your interview went well !! Well Done Melanie !! Cann’t wait to see the entire conversation…….
