#AtoZChallenge – Quokka

The Quokka is a marsupial native to Southwestern Australia, particularly the islands off the coast. This little mammal is an herbivore and primarily nocturnal.

It has no fear of humans and will approach, however, it’s illegal for members of the public on Rottnest Island to handle the animals in any way. A$300 fine can be issued by the Rottnest Island Authority for doing so and prosecution of the offense can result in a fine of up to $2,000.

  1. What a cute little critter. In the video it’s smiling at us. Never heard of this one. It seems Australia has a lot of interesting animals.

  2. They certainly are! I didn’t now about them either until I began my research for the animal theme for my #AtoZChallenge posts.

  3. So adorable! Another animal I have never heard of. And, this one won’t attack if I cuddle it. I’ll be fined, and possibly prosecuted, but at least I won’t be killed. Lol
