I managed 134 words yesterday. Not many but still keeping my butt in the chair and working. I did manage to find that pesky bit that I wasted some writing time looking for. I did have it in twice so deleted the second occurrence. So lost some words there.
Hopefully today will be a productive one. My opening number for today is 91909 words. We’ll see where I end up.
It’s snowing again. Three days of none of the white stuff went down a treat… except for the frigid temperatures. The only good thing about it snowing is it’s milder out than it’s been over the past little while.
It’s just past 6:30. Even my Blackberry isn’t set to turn on until 7:00 on weekends but the alarm dog started scratching at the bedroom door shortly before 6:00. He could have been at it longer that just happened to be the first time I heard him. Haven’t had my coffee yet.Waiting for the natives to start working their way downstairs. Speaking of which, one just did.
I started last night at 91619 words and finished with 91775 – an increase of 156 words. Not a lot of words but I ended up skimming over the same passage looking for something that I was certain was still there but I must have deleted it. I wanted to move it to a different spot further along in the scene.
In the end, I put it back in from memory. It was only a single line of dialogue.
I tried again tonight before starting supper with the bling in a ring box so I could put some more distance between me and it. I also took the pictures (again with my BlackBerry) in a better lit room so the flash didn’t go off.
Here are the “new and improved” pictures.
Not hard to tell that the photos were taken in a room under fluorescent light. I had the ring box in two different locations in the room trying to stay out of the glare of the lights but the colour of the first photograph is better.
Now I need to get down to working on my manuscript.
As I said last night, I had a dyslexic moment when I recorded my last word count the other night. I had written down 91542 words. You can imagine my dismay when I opened the document last night and it only read 91452. The only good thing is, it makes my efforts from last night look more impressive. When I called it quits last night with a fried brain, my word count was 91619. Still not as many words as I’ve been able to peel off in some nights and I didn’t get to the scene that I intended working on but I’m getting there.
I decided to work my way to it rather than jump to it and have to go back and make sure my ducks were in a row, the plot bunnies lassoed etc.
Well I worked on my manuscript some more tonight. I discovered before I even started that I had a dyslexic moment when I last recorded my word count and I hadn’t accomplished as much as I thought I had. Oh well, it makes for a more impressive number for today’s efforts.
I stopped by the post office on my way home from work today and my three entries for the Writers’ Union of Canada Postcard contest are or will very soon be on their way.
I was so frazzled last night that after I got my post written for my blog, I forgot to publish it! It wasn’t until I went to check for spam that I discovered it wasn’t there. Found it tucked away in drafts after I logged in so published it straight away.
I got the labels for my Writers’ Union contest entries printed and on envelopes, entry fee cheque written and everything is now ready to go. Will mail it on my way home from work tonight.
