Met with the girls in my local writers’ group yesterday. During the course of the morning meeting we got on the subject of writers’ block and how I’d not written a word in some time. Well, I came out of there with a fresh outlook not to mention some excellent ideas.
I managed to write for about 5-6 hours yesterday. Woo hoo!!!
I ordered four books from Amazon.ca last week. While checking to see if my order had been shipped, I discovered I’d added a book to it that I already have. Luckily, I was able to delete it but wasn’t able to add the title I wanted.
One of the three books that remained on the order was Victorian and Edwardian Fashion – A Photographic Survey. I’m hoping that having it will bring back the inspiration and motivation I need to get this revision of Sarah’s Gift finished.
Oh, and the other two books? Both Stuart MacBride titles… books three and four… Broken Skin and Flesh House. And even though I’m a self-confessed Stuart MacBride addict (well at least his writing), I’m resisting the temptation to read these right away. The writing has to come first.
See my previous post entitled Writing to Deadline?
I had an extremely unproductive day on the writing front. Couldn’t even get my wind settled to come up with 250 words for my local writer’s group monthly prompt for next Sunday. I did, however, manage to watch two weeks of Coronation St so now I’m completely caught up… until I fall behind again next week.
I’ve asked for an appointment to pitch to an agent at our next ORWA meeting (Sept 12) so maybe that’s the motivation I need to get my brain working… not to mention the deadline.
Keep watching this space for photos and stories about the Scene of the Crime Festival that I attended yesterday.
Well, only one more sleep and I’ll be heading off to the Scene of the Crime Mystery Writers’ Festival on Wolfe Island. YEAH!!!
Still have no idea what I’m going to wear other than I plan on taking a warm sweater with me. I’ve done the walk-on onto the ferry and sitting up on the top deck watching the scenery go buy can be chilly. Not to mention getting wind blown… hmm… want to look somewhat professional so if the walk-on thing is done tomorrow morning, perhaps I best not be out in the elements? Or tie my hair back in an elastic so it doesn’t get quite so windblown? Maybe one of the indoor seats would be more appropriate, or take a hair brush with me… or both.
Are you of a suspicious nature? Avoid black cats, walking under ladders, want to stay in bed on this day? Not me. I find that Friday the 13th is usually one of my betters days… but then I have to be different.
I gave birth at 1:25 yesterday afternoon to a 1.7 pound package containing my BlackBerry.
Spent a lot of time getting frustrated getting it set up only to discover that everything was set up under my husband’s number not mine. Once we got that figured out, the rest of the set up was easy.
Only 3 more sleeps and it will be Scene of the Crime day. Woo hoo!!! I’ve wanted to go to this writers’ festival for a few years now and something always managed to come up and thwart my plans. GAWD, I hate it when that happens. But this year, I got my registration fee in so I’ll be there with bells on! Well not bells, I prefer to think looking somewhat professional (?) but definitely enthusiastic.
Well I won’t be stepping into the 21st century today after all. Glitch in the shipping information has delayed the delivery of my BlackBerry by one day. Sniff… I was SO looking forward to playing with it tonight. At least the shipping information has been corrected so no harm no foul, even though the exception message was somewhat disconcerting. I was beside myself when I saw that. I called the shipping company and spoke to a very nice lady there who assured me that all is well and the message is the only one they have coded into their system for address errors – in my case it was the postal code.
I bought Stuart MacBride’s first and sixth novels (Cold Granite and Dark Blood) bundled together at Costco about a month ago. I’ve since purchased his second novel (Dying Light) and his other two currently out are on my wish list at amazon.ca. On the reading front, I’m well into Dying Light and enjoying every word of it.
I’ve ordered books from Amazon.co.uk on occasion and get recommendations from them on an ongoing basis. Well, this morning I received their current recommendations and if it wasn’t the full set of Stuart MacBride books and there’s a seventh one (hardcover) available for pre-order!
I wish there would have been someone at home when the e-mail came in to share the irony of it all with. I did forward the e-mail to my girlfriend with the same subject as this post. So far I’ve not heard back from her. Maybe she’s still rolling about on the floor in fits of laughter?
I’m still not on Facebook and I don’t tweet but I’ve taken the plunge and bought a BlackBerry – a Bold 9700! I ordered it yesterday from my mobile phone carrier and with any luck, it will be delivered to me at my place of work tomorrow! Woo Hoo! I’m so excited… I’m all a-flutter!
