One Missing Girl by Kristi Belcamino

Another new-to-me author is here today. Kristi Belcamino and her novel, One Missing Girl.

THREE COUPLES. THREE DAUGHTERS. ONE MISSING GIRL.

My husband and I are hosting a party this evening — just for the adults. Our daughters are all leaving for college. We’ve raised them together, watched them grow up together, and now we’re drinking champagne beneath the fairy lights, pretending we’re ready to let them go.

Kate is mine. Brilliant. Funny. The kind of girl who lights up every room she walks into.

Lily has been her best friend since kindergarten. Shy, anxious, always half a step behind her.

And finally there’s Julia. Beautiful, loyal — and fearless.

I never thought I’d get a life like this. Not with a past like mine. But here I am, with a husband who adores me and friends who’ve become family. We drink, we dance. I go to bed happy.

By morning one of the girls is missing.

Mine.

I thought I knew these people. My husband. My oldest friends. Their daughters.

Someone among us is lying about that night. But they’ve made a terrible mistake. They don’t know what I’m capable of. Not yet.

My Review

A final summer party with three couples and their three daughters before the girls go off to university. What could possibly go wrong? In the end, everything.

I sat down to read it on a Friday afternoon, and before supper, I was over halfway through. I hated to put it down, and I didn’t get back to it until Sunday. However, it did give me time to think about who murdered Kate.

The author planted plenty of red herrings along the way to muddle the path to the killer. A few times, I thought I knew the killer’s identity, only to have to cross that person off my list. When the killer was identified, I have to say I was surprised. I won’t say anything more because I don’t want to put any spoilers in my review.

I’ll definitely be looking for more books by this author, Kristi Belcamino.

About the Author

Kristi Belcamino

Kristi Belcamino is a USA Today bestselling writer, chess fanatic, and newspaper crime reporter. Her dark, addictive crime fiction novels explore what happens when ordinary lives are turned upside down by betrayal, tragedy, and long-buried secrets. As a reporter, she has flown in an FA/18 jet with the Blue Angels, interviewed serial killers, and attended barbecues at the county morgue. When she’s not writing, Kristi’s shamelessly watching reality TV, lifting weights, or sitting at a café, watching people and wondering what they’re hiding.
